MEROL - the stage name of Merel Baldé (Dordrecht, 1991) - makes Dutch-language electropop. With her quirky, imaginative, tongue-in-cheek lyrics that reflect on the current zeitgeist, she is a unique voice within the music scene. Since her breakthrough single 'Lekker Met De Meiden' in 2018, she has been conquering the hearts of the Netherlands and Belgium. After she released the song ''Hou Je Bek En Bef Me'' in 2019, she filled all the halls of Paradiso in one weekend and won the 3voor12/3FM Song of the Year Award. In 2021, she made a trip to her southern neighbors and came in second on the TV show De Slimste Mens Ter Wereld. She released her debut album 'Troostprijs' in 2022 and sold out all the venues in the low countries in no time. She played at several festivals including Lowlands, Pukkelpop, Best Kept Secret and Rock Werchter and turned the tents upside down with her thunderous live show. She is known for her self-mockery, iconic costumes, feminist statements and her special, interactive moments with the audience.
