You might say that special collaborations are Pukkelpop’s calligraphic signature. And the art of producing beautiful writing is a perfect fit for Voetvolk, the dance company of dancer/choreographer Lisbeth Gruwez and musician/composer Maarten Van Cauwenberghe.
On Friday the dance collective will kickstart the day’s activities in the Marquee, a shrine when it comes to memorable performances. Famous examples include Jef Neve, Mauro Pawlowski and De Kempenzonen ft. Willy Sommers. Now we can add Voetvolk: Into the Open to the list. Seven performers that literally attempt to embody the groove and energy of music. They incite each other and the audience to surrender to pimped krautrock 2022 AD: the repetitive character of the Can music blends with the high-voltage input of The Chemical Brothers. The entire performance flows naturally from the explosive interplay of DENDERMONDE, the band of Maarten Van Cauwenberghe, Elko Blijweert and Fred Heuvinck.
Dance meets concert: a concert is portrayed through dance, dance becomes a show - in short, a festive stage dive in true let’s play it by ear spirit!
