Sind hun debuut ‘Subculture’ (2008) is het Gentse electroravepunk-combo The Subs uitgegroeid tot een live-band pur sang. “It’s our fingerprint, our ticket to open doors and roads. Gone are the freshmen days of ‘two CD-J’s and a microphone’, travelling from one church tower to the next. With this live setting, we can travel anywhere in the world and show the people what the heart, mind, arms and legs of The Subs truly are”, aldus de band zelf. Hun grote doorbraak kwam er met de single ‘The Pope of Dope’, waarvoor het trio Jeroen De Pessemier aka Papillon, Wiebe Loccufier aka DJ Tonic en Luca Di Ferdinando aka Highbloo in zee gingen met hun Luikse geestesgenoten Partyharders. ‘Decontrol’ is de zeer toepasselijke titel van hun tweede album. U bent immers gewaarschuwd: The Subs make you lose control!
