Four new names to tick

It won’t take long before the names Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, A Place To Bury Strangers, Le Corps Mince de Françoise and Expatriate will do more than just ring a bell. These acts have just been added to the Pukkelpop poster and have been visible on our hype radar for some time now. You have been warned!

The 11-man Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros band is new on the renowned Rough Trade Records label, which has already surprised us with the debut albums ofArcade Fire, Emiliana Torrini and Sufjan Stevens. Pure folk rock with excursions into sixties psychedelics in a completely seventies bohémien style.
The sound of A Place To Bury Strangers owes a lot to My Bloody Valentine and The Jesus & Mary Chain. The band knows how to build a genuine wall of sound. They shoegaze when the volume is extremely high. If you want evidence of this, just visit AB and admire the cracks in the walls.
The Finnish Le Corps Mince De Françoise is a ladies trio, clad in bright colours, that can easily be described as a bunch of pop ravers. Think of more established groups such as Peaches, CSS or Chicks on Speed, but fresher and more refreshing than the bowl of strawberries you are nibbling at the moment.
You will know Expatriate as the support band of dEUS during their last Vantage Point concerts. The group has surprised us with a sound that, according to themselves, hovers somewhere between The Killers and INXS. Their latest album was made with the help of producer John Goodmanson, who has already worked with a wide variety of bands: Simple Plan, Death Cab For Cutie, Wu-Tang Clan, …
