Biography

As we left Het Depot in Leuven last February after the pre-selection of Humo’s Rock Rally, there was one group that had given us a powerful reminder of the true essence of music: rock-solid songs, musicians who thoroughly enjoy playing music, and stirring emotion. School Is Cool had scored three for three that night; it was already clear that they would be taking the Rock Rally by storm. Comparisons to Arcade Fire are familiar, but justified. Not just Johannes Genard’s voice, but the structure of their songs also leans in the same direction as their Canadian counterparts... and a show by School Is Cool is at least as crazy. This will be their second consecutive year at Pukkelpop, which is exceptional for a group from Berchem that hasn’t even been around for two years yet. School Is Cool will be presenting their debut album, produced by Reinhard Vanbergen (Das Pop), in an exclusive pre-premiere at Pukkelpop.
