Biography

After a 4-year absence,Jaga Jazzist landed on Belgian soil again for an excellent concert in an overcrowded ABBox. The nine-man jazz-rock-prog-baroque-afro-beat collective from Norway had not released a single record in five years. Finally, early this year, they put out the splendid ‘One-Armed Bandit’. Hurried drums and perfectly matched percussion, clarinets duelling with saxophones at a dizzying pace. What Jaga Jazzist - and their kindred spirits Tortoise - play sounds like jazz, but only taken in a very broad sense. But who cares about that?
