The whole is greater than the sum of its parts. That must have been the only possible conclusion after almost every member of Bloc Party had been involved in successful and less successful solo projects last year. A relatively young group such as Bloc Party should join forces and do what they are really good at: writing exciting, invigorating and hectic songs. Songs that stand halfway between Joy Division’s post-punk and Sonic Youth’s screeching guitars.
